WH-M8000-TL XT 27.5″ wheelset by Shimano – with lighter and wider rims

The Shimano XT WH-M8000-TL wheelset in 27.5″ is designed for Cross Country use and was therefore built with the lowest possible weight in mind. Nevertheless, it comes with robust aluminium rims, which have also been widened to 20 mm compared to the predecessor model. You have the choice between a pure thru-axle version and a version with a quick release in the back. In the aluminium hubs there are carefully sealed, greased cone bearings, which score with load capacity and smooth running. 28 stainless steel front and rear spokes are laced to these speed wheels, which are of course tubeless compatible.

TL/UST
Tubeless compatible rim. Rims designed with Shimano’s tubeless seal system combine a rim-bead-section with UST-profile for tubeless tires and a special sealing strip with covers for spoke holes and a sealing agent. This allows the superior sealing performance of UST and a simple and reliable strip profile.

Cup and Cone Bearings
Angular contact bearings of the cup and cone type offer greater strength than sealed cartridge industrial bearings due to their ability to displace lateral and vertical loads more effectively for super smooth rotation and longer durability. Angular contact bearings also allow easier maintenance, adjustability, and serviceability.

E-Thru
The tool-less type thru-axle skewer system optimizes rigidity and weight balance and enables easy operation with a reliable internal cam mechanism. The 15 mm thru-axle system is 15% stiffer torsionally and 25% stiffer in transverse shear than a traditional 9 mm quick release front axle system. High rigidity is secured while keeping the optimum weight balance. The E-Thru axle hub system minimizes the distortion of suspension while maintaining lightweight for riding around sharp corners at high speed. An 8 mm thru-axle system for the trekking/hybrid hub and dynamo hub and a 12 mm thru-axle system for the rear are also available.
