Modular crankset: the R-Hawk by Rotor

Like Rotor’s cross-country mountain bike-oriented REX cranks, the R-Hawk is machined for maximal strength and low weight. In addition to being light and rigid, the R-Hawk was designed to be modular so that it can be easily adapted to current and future spacing standards. It has a 30 mm spindle size that is compatible with a variety of bottom brackets such as BBright, BB30, PF30 and BSA, but uses a separate axle which can be swapped out to accommodate bikes used for various disciplines.
The modular design also extends to chainrings, which are available separately. Featuring Rotor’s patented Optimum Chainring Position tech, the rings are easily swapped using just one tool: an 8 mm Allen wrench. A preload adjuster on the non-driveside crank fastens the cranks in place.
Compared to R-Raptor, the 100 % CNC-machined R-Hawk is lighter due to its material and to more CNC machining during the manufacturing process. R-Hawk features Rotor’s signature Trinity Drilling System, which is a process that drills three full-depth holes along the axis of the crank. The 175 mm R-Hawk crankset weighs 665 g with a standard axle and 30T Q-Ring.

Rotor’s exclusive patented technology “OCP Mount” refers to the pedalling’s biomechanical optimization when you are using Q-Rings; this lets you adjust the orientation between chainrings and cranks by one step degree.
The shape of the axle lets you position independently both cranks and spider or Direct Mount, and thereby change the relative orientation in order to adapt to the optimum orientation of each user.
The multiple positions offered by “OCP Mount” technology let a fine adjustment of the OCP (Optimum Chainring Position). In this way, with the OCP Mount technology, any oval chainring can benefit from an OCP with micro-adjustment to increase the performance of your pedalling and your knees health, or even to modulate the traction in MTB and Cyclo-cross.
